Chinese Business FAIL: ‘Fake’ Executive Opportunities Available — $1,000/Week

So you’re worried about the so-called looming Chinese – a nation that has is apparently on the verge of overtaking the United States in terms of manufacturing, holds tons of U.S. debt and has a government that is something akin to Orwellian-lite.

While China may lead the way in manufacturing troll dolls, Nerf balls and Justin Bieber dolls, call me  a skeptic – especially after seeing this. On CNBC today, one reporter explained that if you’re an American in China, you could potentially make $1,000/week being a fake executive. The idea – you go to the remote parts of China in a nice suit to the sweatshops where they manufacture this “crap” and pretend to be some form of quality control.

It’s all perception with these folks.  Just last week at a World Cup match in South Africa, Chinese actors pretending to be North Koreans were rooting on their communist allies. And perhaps this mentality was best expressed during the 2008 Summer Olympics with their opening and closing ceremonies.  You have allegations of one child lip-syncing because the real child was too “ugly” to be seen during the ceremony. If you’re worried about the looming Chinese threat – better take a real hard look at it because perception isn’t reality.

Randi Rhodes’ False Equivalency: Equates Helen Thomas Anti-Semitism to Ron Paul’s Insanity

You’ll get no argument from me that Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, is crazier than a drunk bed bug on Halloween. He has very strange ideas about winding down the federal government and monetary policy that might have worked in 1776 but won’t work in 2010 and isn’t willing to compromise.

However, there’s one thing that despite all his faults he isn’t and that is anti-Semitic. So while all these lefty Helen Thomas apologists are to so eager to draw a moral equivalency by saying, “Well _________ said this __________ and he didn’t get fired,” it’s not a valid argument. Why? Because what the so-called dean of the White House press corps was blatant anti-Semitism. Go back to Germany or Poland? Read the rest of this entry →

Figuring Out the BP Oil Spill: A Gulf Coaster in Exile

It’s not going to be the same, but they said that after Hurricane Katrina.

That is, the Gulf Coast, at least the part I’m familiar with from Apalachicola, Fla. to New Orleans, La., won’t be the same after the BP oil spill. Now I can watch from afar and see how many livelihoods are crumbling.

But I’m not talking about the shrimper or fisherman that the media are trotting out to get that real grassroots anger activated. All that you see is more of a myth. But, the real economy is going to take a hit.

Since the mid-1980s, there has been a boom in beachfront condo growth and there has been a true surge in the middle class in every coastal town from about Ft. Morgan, Ala. to Panama City Beach, Fla. Make a trip to Destin and you’d think you were in an Atlanta suburb. Read the rest of this entry →

They Do It Different in France: Big Macs for Gays

There’s just something inherently icky about this commercial. Or perhaps it’s just a commentary on the French society. It’s a gay-love moment interrupted by a father-son moment made possible by the folks at McDonald’s.

I’m not up on my French culture, so I can’t determine if McDonald’s is trying to be provocative or if they’re really trying to win over the gay hamburger-eating demographic. Nonetheless, there is just something that deep down really troubles me.

The TV spot is called “Come as you are,” but if he’s hiding something from his father, is he really coming as he is? Does this ad somehow encourage homosexuality? Probably not. I mean, if you see a dude about to chomp on some McDonald’s fries but has a thing for dudes he is hiding and that’s your excuse for being gay – you were probably gay anyway.

My advice to McDonald’s is probably to not run this ad in the United States because don’t think for a moment that creepy Burger King king that appears in their commercials would take the opportunity to poke fun.

My takeaway – any craving I ever had for Chicken McNuggets has vanished.

Norman Chad is a Dope (on Global Warming and NASCAR’s Contribution)

Don’t you hate it when people try to be funny and they’re not – especially when it comes to something as phony as manmade global warming?

Take the Washington Post’s pseudo-sports columnist Norman Chad – also the poker announcer for ESPN. In the May 31 Post, Chad decides he’s going to rail against auto racing. And his reason?  It’s bad for the environment. Genius, pure genius I tells ya…

“NASCAR has the carbon footprint of a brontosaurus,” Chad writes. “This whole business of maintaining an industry on wasteful, reckless behavior — we’re talking technology not to build a better mousetrap but to simply create a faster racecar — should be tossed into the junkyard.”

Chad insists this pastime is bad for the environment because it’s contributing to global warming and he manages to compare its impact to that of the Exxon Valdez. Read the rest of this entry →

When in Doubt, Blame America … for the Greek Riots

The American Left doesn’t hate the country – they’re just outspoken about policies and therefore patriotic.

That’s a canard often flaunted on left-wing Internet hangouts like the Daily Kos, the Huffington Post and Democratic Underground. Unfortunately there is a willingness to point the finger at ourselves from those on that end of the so-called ideological spectrum.

Take a listen the May 7 broadcast of KCRW Santa Monica’s “Left, Right and Center.” This is a show that might as well be called “Insanely Liberal, Left-Wing Progressive, Liberal and Right.” This show/podcast showcases liberal bomb thrower and TruthDig.com Web master Robert Scheer, Huffington Post editor Arianna Huffington and Center for American Progress and former Clintonista Matt Miller (all decidedly liberal) and Washington Times columnist with visiting Heritage Foundation fellow Tony Blankley as the token conservative, while pretending to be “Left, Right and Center.” Read the rest of this entry →

Franklin Graham to Radical Islam: You Don’t Have to Blow Yourself Up with a Car Bomb, There’s a Better Way!

OK, for whatever reason this one sort of cracked me up – not because it’s funny purely in a literal sense. However, it’s funny because someone actually had to say it and sadly, it hasn’t been said a whole lot.

Evangelist Franklin Graham, son of the famous Rev. Billy Graham was on the May 3 broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to talk about being to discuss being “disinvited” by the Pentagon and losing his speaking slot in conjunction with the May 6 National Day of Prayer.

Graham was disinvited because “a couple members of the Pentagon who are Muslim objected about me coming” over statements he made about Islam being a “wicked and evil” religion after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorists attacks. Graham stuck to his guns in the MSNBC appearance, but he raised a point that seems so simplistic in nature but never gets said – you don’t have to commit terrorist acts to go to heaven: Read the rest of this entry →

Naked PETA Chicks: How To Make Me Eat More Meat

Over the last several years, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has had a decent track record of trotting out naked celebrities to generate PR for their seemingly insane causes — that animals of all varieties deserve the same stature in society as humans.  They’ve somehow managed to Playboy models, Hollywood stars, etc. to do scantily clad photo shoots all in the name of getting people not to eat meat or wear fur.

So for the big Earth Day so-called Climate Rally on the National Mall on April 25, you would think PETA would go all out, right? This event featured director James Cameron and other B and C-list left-wing personalities intermixed with a free concert given by Sting, John Legend, The Roots, Jimmy Cliff and Passion Pit — amongst others (most people there for the music, not that they care about the global warming.) So you come to play, right?

Not today.  Now I’m sure this is a fine lady, very rational lady – going out on the National Mall, with no clothes and only a sign telling people to go vegan covering her low extremities. But is this really going to make people lead a vegan lifestyle or is there some sort of hidden psychological agenda – to go semi-naked in a public place for an insane cause while a few thousand pseudo-hippy wannabes, likely raised in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, jam to the Roots while they wear their tie-dye T-shirts purchased from Urban Outfitters? My guess is probably not, but it makes for a nice conversation.

It got me to post a blog about this, right? But after wards, I also hit up the Burger King in Chinatown. Two Whoppers for $4 baby.

Dick Cheney: A True American Hero

Did I just miss the entire 00′s and can I not remember how former Vice President Dick Cheney became the villain in the Bush administration caper? While former President George W. Bush has been quiet for whatever despite the willingness of his predecessors – former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter – to speak about current issue, it’s been Cheney who has done the post-Bush administration heavy lifting.

Somehow, somewhere – people still want to blame Bush for a lot of the maladies plaguing the country.  If I recall correctly, there were 52 consecutive months of job growth under the Bush administration.  You want to wish Bush would tout that, but if he won’t there’s always Cheney.

But here’s a little vintage Cheney. Flashback to his expletive attack on Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. Remember the “Go f**k yourself” exchange between the Leahy and Cheney? Cheney expounded upon that on Dennis Miller’s April 23 radio show – “That’s sort of the best thing I ever did.”

Why Ron Paul Can't Be President of the United States

Yesterday on the Drudge Report, Matt Drudge had posted a link to a Rasmussen Poll showing if a race were held today between Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, and President Barack Obama, it would be a dead heat. Traditionally, Rasmussen tends to be a Republican-leaning poll, but it’s still interesting nonetheless to see Paul in the same ballpark as an incumbent Obama.

OK, maybe you’re thinking he’s not an ideal candidate, but he would be much more tolerable than what we got and that’s a point I’m willing to concede. However, if you look at Ron Paul’s voting record, you’d see a lot of ‘nay’ and ‘no votes.’ And that’s pretty much par for the course for Ron Paul in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The problem – it took the United States over 200 years to get to the bloated point we’re at today. Our military presence overseas, the huge bureaucracies, etc. – those are all problems. But if you’re Ron Paul and you’re president, you’d want to want to try to solve these problems one week after inauguration and that’s not possible, as Glenn Beck explained on his radio show about a year ago.

Here’s the setting – on his April 3, 2009 show, a Paul supporter calls into Beck’s program. And Beck, who would arguably be the most sympathetic mainstream media personality/pundit to Ron Paul’s causes explains why Paul has the right idea, but isn’t necessarily a textbook exercise in discretion and would not be suited to be President of the United States.
